The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has recently released important updates regarding the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) guidelines for plastic and other materials. Below are the key developments you need to be aware of:
1. CPCB EPR Plastic Portal Maintenance (1st May to 11th May 2025)
Please be advised that the CPCB EPR Plastic Portal will be undergoing maintenance from 1st May to 11th May 2025. During this period, access to the portal and the ability to upload data will be unavailable. We recommend planning your activities accordingly and ensuring that all necessary uploads are completed before or after the maintenance window.
2. Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) Compliance Notice
The KSPCB has issued a new notice requiring adherence to recent amendments related to plastic packaging. Key highlights include:
- Updated Labeling and Marking Norms: Producers, Importers, and Brand Owners (PIBOs) must comply with updated labeling requirements for recycled plastic, compostable plastic, and biodegradable plastics.
- Mandatory Printing of Information: Specific details must be printed on the packaging.
- Barcode/QR Code System: The implementation of a barcode/QR code system is now mandatory. Ensure that your packaging complies with these new requirements.
3. Revamped Tyre EPR Portal Now Accessible
Good news for tyre producers and recyclers! The Tyre EPR Portal has been revamped and is now fully accessible. Users can now access a more streamlined platform for submitting their EPR-related data and documentation.
4. Extended Deadline for FY24-25 Annual Return
The deadline for submitting the Annual Return for FY24-25 has been extended to 30th April 2025. If you haven’t filed your return yet, make sure to complete it before the new deadline to avoid penalties.
5. Introduction of the Centralized EPR Plastic Packaging (CEPP) Mobile App
The CPCB has introduced the CEPP Mobile App to facilitate easier compliance for PIBOs. This new app allows users to quickly scan GST eInvoices and upload sales transaction data efficiently, making the process faster and more convenient.
What This Means for You
These updates are critical for all stakeholders involved in EPR compliance. Whether you're a PIBO, a tyre producer, or involved in packaging, it’s important to stay updated with these changes to ensure compliance and avoid any disruptions in your operations.
