The Water Meters and Accessories (Water meters - domestic type)
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a Quality Control Order titled the "Water Meters and Accessories (Quality Control) Order, 2024." This order will take effect six months from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
Goods or articles related to Water Meters and Accessories must adhere to the corresponding Indian Standard 779: 1994 (Water meters - domestic type) and bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards as per Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
Exceptions to this order include goods or articles manufactured domestically for export. Additionally, for micro and small enterprises, as defined in clauses (h) and (m) of section 2 of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (27 of 2006), the order will come into force twelve months and nine months from the date of publication, respectively.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will serve as the certifying and enforcing authority for goods or articles related to Water Meters and Accessories.
Any violation of this order will be punishable under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
