BIS QCO for the Rubber and Thermoplastic Hoses (Thermoplastic Hoses (Textile Reinforced) for Water)
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has unveiled the "Rubber and Thermoplastic Hoses (Quality Control) Order, 2023," set to be effective six months from its publication in the Official Gazette.
Under this order, goods or articles falling within the category of Rubber and Thermoplastic Hoses must comply with the specified standards, namely Indian Standard 12585 : 1988 (Thermoplastic Hoses (Textile Reinforced) for Water). To affirm adherence to these standards, the products are required to bear the Standard Mark, obtained through a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards under Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
Notably, this order does not apply to goods or articles manufactured domestically for export. Small enterprises, as defined by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, are exempted for a period of nine months from the date of publication. Similarly, micro-enterprises have a grace period of twelve months from the date of publication.
Any violation of this order is subject to penalties under the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.
