The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals has issued a notification regarding Anhydrous Ammonia (HS CODE - 28141000), a key nitrogen fertilizer
To protect human health and the environment, BIS standards for Anhydrous Ammonia will be made mandatory.
Both locally manufactured and imported Anhydrous ammonia must adhere to Indian Standard IS 662: 2020 and bear the standard mark, obtained under license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), in accordance with Scheme-II of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018. The use of this standard mark is regulated by the provisions of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, and the subsequent Rules and Regulations. BIS will be the certifying and enforcing authority.
The proposed date for these regulations to take effect is 6 months from adoption, and the deadline for comments is 60 days from the notification date
