BIS QCO for Steel wire ropes Fibre main cores IS 1804
The Ministry of Textiles has issued the Ropes and Cordages (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2026. It shall come into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
For Small and Micro Enterprises, as defined under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (Act 27 of 2006), the Order will take effect nine months after its publication.
The Order applies to steel wire ropes with fibre main cores but does not cover products intended for export.
These steel wire ropes must conform to Indian Standard IS 1804:2004 and display the Standard Mark. This Mark must be obtained under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), following Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will be the certifying and enforcing authority for compliance with this Order for steel wire ropes with fibre main cores.
