BIS QCO for Fibre ropes – Polyamide 3- 4- 8- and 12-Strand ropes IS 4572
The Ministry of Textiles has issued the Ropes and Cordages (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2026. It shall come into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
For Small and Micro Enterprises, as defined under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006, the Order shall come into effect nine months from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
This Order applies to Polyamide fibre ropes in 3-strand, 4-strand, 8-strand, and 12-strand configurations.
It does not apply to these goods if they are intended for export.
The aforementioned ropes must conform to Indian Standard IS 4572:2022.They must bear the Standard Mark under a licence issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards, in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II to the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards shall be the certifying and enforcing authority for these ropes.
