BIS QCO for Composite synthetic fibre ropes IS 14928
The Ministry of Textiles has issued the Ropes and Cordages (Quality Control) Amendment Order, 2026. It shall come into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
For Small and Micro Enterprises, as defined under the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Act, 2006 (Act 27 of 2006), the Order will come into force nine months after its publication.
The Order applies to textiles, specifically composite synthetic fibre ropes, but does not cover products intended for export.
Composite synthetic fibre ropes must conform to Indian Standard IS 14928:2001 and must display the Standard Mark, which is to be obtained under a license from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in accordance with Scheme-I of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
The Bureau of Indian Standards will be responsible for certifying and enforcing compliance with this Order for composite synthetic fibre ropes.
